First Step Open Radio
There are 10 screws to remove on the back of the boom box .

remove sirrus dock connector.. cut connector off of dock cable ..
Open ipod dock

After you remove the circuit board from the case you will have this

Then cut the ipod dock board from the usb/firewired board
and trim the ipod dock board like below on the yellow line
![]()
after trimming the board it should look like this
![]()
after you trim the board you will have to add 2 jumpers one top and one bottom

now take the sirrus dock connector and rip off all the connectors off of it .. i used pliers ..

solder connections
idock J2A(boom box cable)
J3 - pin 5 Audio Ground
J2 - pin 4 Audio Right
J1 - pin 6 Audio Left
P1 - pin 9 Ground
P2 - pin 8 +12v
Making it all fit
you will have to remove some plastic from the inside of the boom box to give the ipod connector some more height .
![]()
i used a dremel with a sanding drum to grid the plastic down
you will also have to remove some plastic fron the outsie of the dock area if you have a large ipod .. you wont have to do it with a ipod mini
![]()
now screw the dock connector back inside the boom box ..
Image:Example.jpg
and make a spacer to take up the space from the back of the ipod to the boom box
Image:Example.jpg
now all you need to do is add some way to keep the ipod in the boom box i used a larger rubber band tied thru the slots in the boom box ..seems to work well
Image:Example.jpg
and thats it just reassemble the boom box and you have a cheap ipod boom box !!
How To Make It Sound Better
Pic below is the bottom of the amp board ..
the part we are looking for is the PT2389 5-mode eq with bass boost ..
data sheet here http://www.princeton.com.tw/webSite/downloadprocess/downloadfile.asp?mydownload=PT2389_5.pdf
To disable bass boost cut the trace at the bottom of r79 (no resistor is installed)
and to change the EQ type Remove R83 and install in one other location..
R80 Flat
R37 Rock
R81 POPS
R82 Classics
R83 Jazz (default has resistor installed)
or you can enable cyclic key mode ..
remove R67 0 ohm resistor and add a 4.7k resistor from vcc to a switch
and connect the other side of the switch to TP1
now you can click thru the different eq modes .
